Privacy Policy — GuttaFM

Last updated: June 16, 2026

Snega ("we", "us", "our") operates the GuttaFM mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you first open the App, an anonymous Firebase session is created automatically so you can browse the music catalog, listen to songs, and join the chat without signing in. This anonymous session does not collect any personal information.

The App also offers optional Google Sign-In. When you sign in, we receive your Google account name and email address from Google. You can browse the catalog, listen, and use the chat without signing in.

1.2 Locally Stored Preferences

The App stores the following preferences on your device using Android DataStore. This data never leaves your device:

1.3 Anonymous Client Identifier

We generate and store a random, anonymous identifier (UUID) on your device. This identifier is used solely to deduplicate play-count tracking and, for signed-in users, to register push notification tokens. It is not linked to your name or email and cannot be used to identify you personally. It is regenerated if you clear the App's data or reinstall the App.

1.4 Play Tracking

When you listen to a song for more than 5 seconds, we send a play event to our server containing the song ID, station ID, and your anonymous client identifier. This data is used to compile aggregate play counts and charts. No personal information is included.

1.5 Chat Messages (Publicly Visible)

The App includes a public chat where listeners can send text and voice messages during live broadcasts. When you send a message, the message content (or, for a voice message, the recording made from your microphone), the display name you chose, and a timestamp are stored in our database (Firebase Firestore) and file storage (Firebase Storage).

These messages are public. Your chosen display name, your text, and your voice recordings are visible to other listeners and to the broadcast team. Please do not include sensitive personal information in chat, and you are free to use a nickname rather than your real name.

1.6 Push Notification Tokens

If you are signed in and enable notifications, your device's Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token is stored on our server so we can deliver broadcast and new-song alerts and, for station administrators, alerts about account-related events such as a request for administrator access. For signed-in users, the stored token is associated with your account identifier (the Firebase Authentication user ID linked to your Google Sign-In) so a notification can be addressed to a specific person rather than sent to everyone. Anonymous (not signed-in) sessions do not register a push token. You can disable notifications at any time (see "Your Choices").

1.7 Downloaded Content

Songs you download for offline listening are stored locally on your device in the App's private storage. They are not accessible to other apps and are removed when you uninstall the App.

1.8 Casting and Local Network

The App lets you play audio on external devices via Google Cast (Chromecast) and DLNA/UPnP devices (such as smart TVs and network speakers). To do this, the App discovers compatible devices on your local Wi-Fi network and streams audio to the device you select. For DLNA/UPnP playback, the App runs a temporary local audio server on your Wi-Fi network so the selected device can fetch the audio.

Local-network discovery and casting happen directly between your device and the devices on your network. We do not collect or receive information about your network or the devices on it.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

3. Device Permissions

The App requests the following permissions, only for the purposes described:

You can grant or revoke runtime permissions (such as microphone and notifications) at any time in your device's system settings.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:

When you stream live radio or download songs, your device connects to our audio streaming and hosting servers; as with any internet connection, those servers receive your device's IP address in order to deliver the content.

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. Data is only processed by the Firebase and Google Cast services listed above, which act as data processors on our behalf. Chat messages are, by design, shared publicly with other listeners as described in Section 1.5.

6. Data Retention

7. Your Choices

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security practices, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all network communication and Firebase's built-in security infrastructure, with server-side access rules, for data storage.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the App or at this URL, with the "Last updated" date revised accordingly.
